I’m Ross Richey, a photographer and videographer based in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah! I started my professional media career in 2013 while working in the arts & cultural sector and transitioned into a full-time professional in 2020 amidst the increased need for live-streamed events. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Film & Media Arts with certification in Criminology & Corrections from The University of Utah and a Master’s degree in Arts & Cultural Management from Leuphana University of Lüneburg. I am also certified as a Remote Pilot in Command (drone pilot, Part 107 UAS) by the Federal Aviation Administration & Department of Transportation.

I primarily use the Canon R5 camera alongside Canon RF ‘L’ (luxury) series lenses and speedlites. Depending on the needs of a job, I also have a DJI gimbal and drone, Interfit strobe flash units, RØDE and Sennheiser microphones, a ZOOM recorder, and various other lighting and accessory items.

I am also available for editing, including scanning and restoration of media including film negatives, photographs, tapes, VHSs, and others. I can also digitally manipulate (Photoshop) images for needs such as removal of people or objects, recontextualization, etc. Reach out for more information!

Photography & videography are notoriously expensive professions to delve into. The most basic kit that I bring along with me to jobs costs over ten thousand dollars new, and typically rents for over $300/day. Editing also requires several thousands of dollars worth of software licenses every year, and all of the hardware regularly requires upgrading to keep up with modern standards. On top of that, all of this gear is attached to a friendly photographer/videographer who both has all of the qualifications from the ‘Who are you?’ section above and needs to pay for food, insurance, and rent in a major city. Rest assured that I am committed to ensuring the value of your investment and that my rates are quite inexpensive when compared to comparable professionals.

Edited photos are delivered as JPG files at 2160 pixels (about the maximum vertical resolution of a 4K UHD TV) on their shortest side (some photos may be smaller if they require significant cropping).

Edited video files are delivered in MP4 format at 1080p HD by default or 4K UHD if requested (some images may be upscaled if cropping was required).

All files are delivered via a Google Drive link, which will remain live for two months after delivery (please download it before then). If you lose access to your media at any point in the future, you may reach out to request it be reuploaded and it will be provided if available without charge, pending outlier circumstances.

If preferred, you may provide digital storage options such as USB hard drives and have the media loaded and shipped or delivered to you at cost, pending outlier circumstances.
